MONTESANO, WASHINGTON 3/8/01

Today I walked 11 miles from Elma to Montesano. There was a chance for rain, but it never happened. It's a little bit cooler today than it has been, only around 50 or so.
I have learned that there are only 2 things that really matter to me anymore: a tub and a bed. Nothing else is as important to me as that.
I've only been stopped by a policeman once so far. He was concerned about me hitchhiking, because that's illegal. I assured him I wasn't, and he thought my quest was terrific. He said he'd check up on me periodically, and since then I've seen him 3 more times.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The less we become obsessed about arriving, the more we'll enjoy the journey. Live fully from moment to moment. Focus on what is happening now, not what I need to be doing to get somewhere else. Notice the scenery. Breathe deeply. Notice the beauty of the sky, as if seeing it for the first time. Look around, and enjoy the view. Live life completely, and immerse yourself in the process. Life is not about arriving somewhere, it's about the journey.
ITEMS MOST OFTEN SEEN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (besides trash): 1. tire rims 2. hub caps & 3. bungee cords.
I'm going to go take a long hot bubble bath and vegitate for the next day & a half. See ya later!
