Lone Jack, Missouri

Howdy Everyone!
I really enjoyed my time in Kansas City. I stayed with Peggy Walls, Executive
Director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri. While I was
there, Peggy made arrangements for me to talk at 2 schools, attend a reception,
and attend a banquet. It was all really
enjoyable and I felt lucky to participate.
Another thing I really enjoyed doing in KC was going to the Zoo with Linda
Kaiser, a friend of mine from work. Lindas parents live out in this area, so she
came out to see them and also to see me. The weather that day was just
spectacular, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon at the Zoo with
Linda.
Today I walked to Lone Jack, Missouri, and once again the weather was beautiful.
It was actually up in the 70's -- hard to believe we're in November. At one
point I got off the beaten path and took a less traveled road in to Lone Jack. I
especially enjoyed that part of the walk. I saw many farms, houses, cattle &
deer. I took a couple of pictures of some old barns.
When I got to Lone Jack, I stopped at the Cafe and had some lunch. Susan Arthurs
from Warrensburg came & picked me up and took me to her house. Tomorrow
she'll take me back to the Cafe and I'll walk in to Warrensburg.
Susan has her own story about epilepsy: she was an airline pilot who lost her
career because of epilepsy. She had flown for United for 11 yrs when she started
having seizures. In 1996 Susan founded the Alliance For Epilepsy Research, a
not-for-profit grass-roots organization with a mission to encourage and support
innovative epilepsy research.
