FLORA, ILLINOIS 1-23-02
This evening as I sit here typing, the thunder is rumbling and the rain is
pouring down outside. It was a fairly warm day today, over 60, and the
thunderstorm is a nice treat in January. I spent today at the Flora High School
giving talks about epilepsy to all the PE classes. They seemed fairly
interested, but you know those High Schoolers -- they have to act distant or
aloof, so that it looks like they couldn't care less about my talk. But I think
they still heard what I was saying. Or at least I hope they did. Pat, the lady
at the Chamber of Commerce, gave me a neat surprise today. Her son is a Dentist
in Salem, and today I had an appt with Stephen W. Barber, DMD and got my teeth
cleaned, polished, and 2 fillings for free. One filling was an old one being
fixed, and the other was a new one. I cannot remember a time when I was quite so
excited to see a Dentist! I haven't seen a Dentist in several years, and he said
my teeth were in great shape. That was really encouraging. Never did I think
that getting a free dental check-up would be part of this trip! Thursday I'll be
walking around 23 miles to Olney, where the Health Fair was held last wkend.
I'll stay there over the wkend. Take care and have a great day! KB
