Howdy Everyone!
On wednesday I left Piercefield and made it to
Cranberry Lake, a good distance away.  I had already
contacted the pastor and knew I could stay at the
church, but still decided to check with the 2 motels
first.  The first one said forget it, but the second
one said yes and let me stay there.
Stone Manor Motel was right across the street from
the Presbyterian Church, which was right on the shore
of Cranberry Lake.  A small town with much activity on
the lake, the setting was very quaint and picturesque.
Today I headed for Star Lake, around 14 miles away.
Sam & Norma invited me to stay with them, and later
that day they showed me around and took me to a
Forestry and Ranger School in Wanakena, New York.
They also introduced me to several local friends
back in Star Lake, and through them we were able to
make connections for tomorrow night in Fine, NY.  It's
only around 11 miles away, so that will be a pleasant
walk.
I'm almost out of the woods out here.  In a few more
miles I'll be leaving Adirondack Park -- the largest
state park in America.  The roads are getting flatter
and the hill are no longer as steep.  Once I get to
Natural Bridge 30 miles away, connections are made and
plans are being layed out for places to stay all along
the stretch of Lake Ontario from Watertown clear to
Niagara Falls, over 150 miles.
The Epilepsy Foundation in Rochester has made many
connections along the way, and people are lined up to
help all along that stretch.  They've got several
meetings lined up, numerous interviews, I'll be meeting
a Senator, and a couple TV News stations.  In fact,
I'll be doing one tomorrow morning.  Channel 7 News out
of Watertown is going to meet up with me tomorrow
morning as I head to Fine.
Also, when I get to Natural Bridge, I'll be staying
with a reporter for a local newspaper.  This connection
is pretty interesting:  a postal worker in Millbrook NY
contacted her sister-in-law in Burlington VT (where I
stayed), and she contacted her sister-in-law in
Carthage NY, where I'll be staying!  It's a small
world, isn't it?
Y'all take care and have a great weekend!  KB
