Howdy Everyone!
Thursday morning I woke up to a balmy temperature outside of
five below zero. By the time I was ready to leave, it had warmed up to 2.
I had on a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans and a pair of sweats, plus a
long-sleeve t-shirt, a short-sleeve
t-shirt, and a sweatshirt, my jacket, wool gloves, and a stocking cap. The
only thing not covered was my face.
When I stepped outside, it nearly took my breath away. But
after I got moving I was really quite comfortable. Luckily the wind was at
my back, and I was able to stay warm.
I did learn though, with that many clothes on, that potty breaks
needed to be planned long in advance. I did not want to be taking a layer
of clothes off and pulling down 3 pairs of pants in a crisis situation!
I made it to Nixa and found the Baptist Church. Randy Ward
from High Street Baptist Church in Springfield, had hauled my cart there
already. Working in the office was Nan, the lady I had talked to on the
phone. She invited me in and showed me a room where I'd be staying.
This church is large, too, but not as big as the one in Springfield. Nan
also mentioned that she was having a group over to her house that evening for
Bible Study, and asked if I'd like to come along. I said sure, and headed
home with her. She was still planning on bringing me back to the church to
spend the night at, but after everyone left it was 10:30, and she asked me if
I'd just like to stay there at her house. So that's what I did.
Today (thurs) I'll be walking around 15 miles to Spokane, where
I'll be staying at the Baptist Church. Then on saturday I'll walk to
Branson and stay there for a few days.
Hope you all have a great day and an enjoyable weekend, and may the
best team win! KB
