Howdy Everyone!
I crossed over into Arkansas and stopped in the first little town I
came to, Omaha. A tiny town of 180 people, fire chief Roger let me stay in
the fire station. I ate at the cafe for free, and the lady across the
street at the hair salon gave me a free hair cut. She also brought me some
couch cushions to sleep on, and several movies to watch on the TV. That
evening the gas station/convenient store wouldn't let me pay for the sandwich,
and then the Mayor came over to check on me. He took me over to his house
to take a shower and clean up.
In the morning before I left for Harrison, I gave a talk about
epilepsy to the school. All the students were sitting in the
gymnasium, and I gave a talk to the whole group. Afterward, the school
gave me a $200 check for the Epilepsy Foundation.
From there I headed for Harrison, Arkansas, where I was able to
stay 2 nights at Comfort Inn for free. While there I also attended a
Lion's meeting, and gave a talk there. They gave me some cash and wrote
out a $100 check for the Epilepsy Foundation
On friday I'll be walking to Western Grove, another tiny town.
I'll be spending the night there inside the local cafe! The weather today
is suppose to get up to around 48, and then the next few days will be up in the
60's. Take care and have a great weekend! KB
