Biological Tuesday |
While in Australia I was walking around the
park in downtown Sydney.
Many nocturnal creatures come out after dark. One of these is the
opossum.
These didn't look like the nasty little rat looking things we
have here in
the states but more like a large, cute, and fuzzy squirrel of
some kind.
Their hair was a little coarse like an American opossum but as
you can see
they weren't quite as repulsive.
I was able to pet this one here. After petting
him for a while he turned
away and resumed his evening foraging for food and scraps.
After I saw the first one I then noticed that
there were several of them
climbing around in the trees and walking all around in the park.
Yea, I know my mother
told me not to go near or pet stray and wild
animals. I know he could have bitten me and gave me rabies but
what they
heck. You got to live your life and pet every stray Australian
opossum you
see. For it may be your last chance.
