Botanical Monday |
This picture comes from the Arizona desert.
There in the desert grows
a terrible and menacing plant known as the "Jumping Cholla
Cactus".
These dangerous cactus plants have
all these very sharp
thorns on them with little tiny barbs on the end of each one. If
you walk
close enough to them and lightly brush up against one of them the
ends will
fall off, very easily, and attach themselves to you, seemingly to
be
"jumping" onto you. When you try to remove them they
imbed themselves deeper
and are quite painful.
Amazingly though, many animals like to make
nests and borrows within the
safety of these cactus.
