* Westwind *
This is an image that was created from an
actual picture of an airplane that
we used to jump out of. The Westwind as we called it was an older aircraft that
had been turned into a skydive jump plane. But this airplane has some amazing
stories behind it. After I first started skydiving out in Virginia I had been
jumping out of this plane and really never thought much about it until I took a
trip out to Oregon. I made my way to Skydive Oregon where I made a few jumps and
was showing the people some of my images, upon which they were all ecstatic
about the images of the Westwind. They exclaimed that it was their previous jump
plane. This all, I thought was quite a coincidence, until I looked into it
further and found even more amazing coincidences.
I found out that I had actually ridden in that same exact aircraft when I was
only 17 years old. Back then I was living in a small town in Oregon. I had taken
a drive up to Washington state with a friend of my father's, so that he could
look at an airplane that he was thinking of buying. We looked over the pretty
blue aircraft and took it for a spin. (well, for a short flight) He bought it
and, as the reason I was there, I drove his car back to Oregon. Little did I
realize that, more than 20 years later, I'd be jumping out of that same
airplane, in a place all the way on the other side of the country.
How I did it...
Taking an image of our beloved jump plane, I later discovered that it was
totally out of focus. So with a few enhancements and the "edge"
effect, I came up with this abstract image.
