* Butterflies are Free *
Okay now, here's the
story of the butterfly I had this weekend.
Friday afternoon the weather wasn't very
desirable and this butterfly
made its way into our building at work and landed on me. I took
it to my
office where I just happened to have my camera and took a few
pictures of
it.
It stayed on me so I took it around and showed
a few people.
I safely put it into a small container and
took it home after work. Once
there I took it outside where I placed it in a tree and proceeded
to take
several more pictures before it flew away. The weather started
getting rough
again and the poor thing was having a very hard time hanging on
to the tree
so I let it climb back on my hand and took it back into my
apartment.
I mixed up some honey and a little water and
with its long proboscis
(tongue) extended I was able to hand-feed it for a while. That
was just
amazing.
After a little thought I decided to take some
pictures of the butterfly
with some of my musical instruments. After a little bribery of
more honey
and water It graciously accepted my photo-shoot plans and
proceeded to climb
about the instruments and show off. I got some amazing shots on a
guitar,
piano keys, a violin, and a flute.
I let it stay here over night and decided to
take it out the next
afternoon, Saturday.
I let it climb around on the tree again and
the weather was still pretty
rough so I took it back inside for yet another day.
The weather cleared up and was getting pretty
nice Sunday afternoon so I
took it back outside and got a few more pictures before it
finally flew
away.
Let me know if you
want to see more shots of the butterfly. I've got
161 of them with it on the various musical instruments, in the
trees,
sitting and feeding from my hands and out of a dish.
