* Refraction *
Several years
prior to my father's passing, during a trip to Oregon, he gave me
a copy of this picture. He told me the story of how this
fascinating anomaly had appeared before him. He told me that this
bright light started in one place in the sky and slowly moved
across the sky creating this long arc that you see. At the time
he couldn't understand how it could have happened. After a while
of discussion between the two of us we came up with a theory.
* The sun must have been to his back as well as a large amount of
clouds and overcast. The clouds must have been moving away
exposing the sun as it refracted on the spectacular cirrus clouds
in the background. Much like a rainbow may expose itself on or
off, the sun refracting off of the clouds moved across the sky as
the overcast behind him moved across the sky.
I was so fascinated with this image I used it for the inside cover of my first CD, "A Sound Idea". I sent that picture out on May 24, 2000. (CLICK HERE)
