This was a picture that my father had taken many years ago of two of the most wonderful little spirits in the world. This poor little brother and sister were a mixture of dachshund (wiener dog), beagle and some kind of spaniel, which created an extremely odd mix. I had never before seen anything that looked quite like them until several years later, after my dog had made the rounds around town and eventually got struck down by a car. Soon afterwards I began to notice little dogs all over town that looked very similar. Go figure.

 Named by our mother, the one on the left was Whiskey, and the one on the right was Gin. 
Again, go figure.
