At the same park in Maine I had been waiting for this groundhog to come out of a small drain pipe that it was hiding in. After quite some time my impatience got the best of me and I decided to try to get a closer look. I captured several shots of this shy little creature before I finally left it alone.

With the darkness of the drain pipe it was a little challenging to get a good shot. While taking the pictures I couldn't see the groundhog at all so I just assumed the distance and adjusted the focus, zoom and flash settings and took picture after picture till I got a few good ones.
