Don't be afraid. This is actually just a regular moth. Well, with a little bit of coloring and shading effects.

However, I guess I shouldn't say that its just a regular moth. This one had a wingspan of about 4". Flying into my back door a few weeks ago, I had initially thought that it was a bat until it crashed into my sink and tried to drown itself. I fished it out of the water and spent some quality time with it. I finally succeeded in talking it out of taking its own life and let it go back outside.
