* Sun Pillar *

This sunset from this past Tuesday was just incredible. The day was a little cloudy so I knew it could provide the makings of a great sunset. Boy was I right.

Although I was a little confused when I noticed the sun pillar. A beam of light from the sun that shines straight up from the horizon. I had experienced these in the past and did a little research. The information was that the light is created by the sun refracting off of ice crystals in the sky. Now that seemed pretty easy to accept as my last experience was in Virginia, in the winter, with snow on the ground. But now I'm in Arizona, in the summer, surrounded by warm weather and cactus. So I don't know what's up with that.
