* The Shadow Chasers *

Several years ago I had the opportunity to witness this somewhat humorous event. It was July 4th, 2002 in Washington D.C. While enjoying the entertainment of the festival atmosphere, and waiting out the heat of the day for the firework's display, later that evening, this crowd of people was enjoying a nice relaxing afternoon in the shade. Unfortunately this shadow was cast down from the Washington Monument. As the day progressed, the shadow moved across the ground much like a giant sundial. So, in an attempt to keep cool, this crowd of people, very slowly and gradually scooted across the ground, chasing the shade.

 I have thought that it would be quite amusing to be able to film this behavior with time lapse photography.
