Happy Halloween
I know, kind of creepy. But there's
nothing like a blood shot eyeball for Halloween.
But while hiking in the White Oak Canyon trail, in Virginia, I stopped to take a
picture of the view. As I stood up and turned around it got me. A tree was right
there, creeping up from behind me. Before I could get away it thrust a branch
right into my eye, scratching my cornea. Immediately I felt an incredible pain
that felt like somebody stabbing my eye with a knife. For a moment, with my eyes
watering like mad, I couldn't see anything. In fear that I had severely damaged
my eye, I forced it open and took a picture of it. You can clearly see the
sliced (white) area on the right of the lens and even make out a scratch in the
upper part of the cornea.
But the damage was actually not as bad as I had feared and it healed rather quickly, within a few weeks. I do still have a slight blur spot in my left eye, but nothing that would even require me to have to wear corrective lenses.
