* Rocky Point *

Named by the Mexican people, "Puerto Peñasco", which means, "Port Point". But by Americans it is referred to as "Rocky Point", which means "Rocky Point".

Originally the site was named, "Rocky Point" in 1826, by Lt. Robert William Hale Hardy of the British Royal Fleet. Some 100 years alter it was renamed by the president of Mexico, General Lázaro Cárdenas. Puerto Punta Peñasco (Port Rocky Point). Over the years the Mexicans dropped the "Punta".

Rocky Point is about a 3.5 hour drive from Tucson and definitely the closest beach to Arizona and most of the southwest area.
