* The Right Stuff * 

As I've said before, after taking so many pictures of sunsets, I can often look off to the west and see the conditions that will most likely make up a beautiful sunset. This one was no different. On my way home one day I watched as the sun was setting and noticed the way the cloud formation was and quickly made my way home. I took this shot and many that followed. This one here was actually some time before the sky lit up in amazing colors. But look to the lower cumulous (fluffy) clouds, and then at the upper cirrus (wispy) clouds. As the sun was going to set beyond the horizon it would pitch light up and reflect on the clouds above. First striking color upon the lower clouds, as you can see here, and then later, like a paintbrush, lighting up the upper clouds with incredible brilliance.
