* Pygmy-Owl  *

This beautiful little creature here, the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, or (Glaucidium brasilianum) is currently on the endangered species list, with less than 50 of them currently in Arizona. But this is actually rising considerably from around 30 of them in 1998.
I took this picture at the desert museum, after several other attempts with its eyes closed.
 Just last night I saw on the news that there is currently a proposal set in motion to import some of these rare animals from Mexico.

With its nesting preference being the, also endangered saguaro cactus, it has lost much of its natural habitat, and we see that there is a very sensitive balance to the life in the desert.
This also sets a good example of the balance with so many other plants and animals throughout the world.

Here you can see I had previously posted a picture of a Northern Pygmy-Owl at the Baltimore Zoo.
