* Nesting Dove *

As I was mowing the desert around the property I became startled by the sound of fluttering. As I turned I noticed a dove had seemed to fall from a cholla tree and began to flop all across the ground as if it was severally injured. I thought I may have somehow wounded the poor creature until I noticed a certain method in its dance across the ground. It was faking and was trying to draw my attention from a small nest in the tree. Very well exposed and not too high up, it was easy to get a good clear look at the occupants. As I looked I noticed two young doves still remaining in the nest. I resumed my mowing and decided that I would return to the tree at a later time and get a picture of the birds.
So I did, and on the next day I returned and got a few good close-ups. The babies were very actually getting quite large and seemed close to the time that they should be leaving the nest and did so after a few more days.
