* Maui Kite Surfer *

I was walking along the beach in Maui when I got a call from my friends. So I started to head back to meet up with them, when I was distracted by bright colors. Up the beach about another half mile was about half a dozen kite surfers. Now I had watched one of these in Key West and was fascinated. So forgot all about my friends and I headed up the beach to watch these guys zip back and forth across the surf, occasionally turning and lifting themselves way up in the air before lightly touching back down again.

I talked to a conventional surfer for a while. We both agreed that the endeavor definitely looked like it took a great deal of skill. As I expressed to him that it seemed more difficult than skydiving, he laughed and said, "I would think that skydiving would be much harder than this."
I replied, "No skydiving is a lot easier. I mean, how hard could falling be? You jump out of the plane and you go down. There's not much to run into except for one hard object. And somewhere before you get there, you open the chute."

Yeah, I was impressed with these guys.
