* St. Joseph Church *

This is the St. Joseph Church, with Mount Haleakala in the background, shrouded in the clouds. This old church has been there since 1862, and has one of the most surreal and spectacular surroundings. With the ocean on one side, and the volcano on the other, and way off in the distance, you can actually see numerous waterfalls streaming down the side of the mountain.

Around the island of Maui, on the road to Hana. Or the Hana Highway, it gets rather congested. But if you keep going past Hana, and around the south side of the island the road gets pretty rough, and there are a lot less people. Once they get to Hana, most tourists head back the same way they came. But the highway goes all the way around the south side of the island. So how are you suppose to experience the whole island without going all the way around? Well, just past this point, the landscape takes a whole different appearance and becomes quite barren and dry. An amazing geography, you can go from a tropical rainforest, to a dry desert within about 30 minutes.
