"Home",
It
means so many different things to so many different people. And with the
holiday season right around the corner, so many people are speculating and
making plans on "Going Home" to visit with family and friends, and
be around the ones they love. But if that is really "home" to them,
it often makes me wonder why they don't actually live there themselves. I do
know for whatever reasons we leave our homes and venture on out into the
world, many of us never lose that touch of a firm foundation that always seems
to be there. At any time in our lives, we can escape the struggles
and stress of life and take a break, and just go home.
But as we move from place to place throughout our lives, we so often get
separated from our backgrounds, and the definition of home changes. Going to our
immediate home is just a place to rest at the end of a busy day, in a dwelling
that suffices a temporary home in our minds. But we are always being called
back to that other place. A place that is different to each and every one of
us.
Sometimes its a place where we once felt safe and warm, where life was so much
easier. Sometimes its just a place where other people live, such as a parent
or relatives. Sometimes it might be a small shelter or box, just to keep out
of the rain or snow.
Or in some cases it can just be a little
hold in the sand, a quick place to hide from the world.
Either way, we all have our various
different homes to go to. And I hope that you all get the opportunity to go to
yours, and be with the ones you love for the holidays. Or just call somebody
special. Or spend time with friends.
But don't just crawl into a hole and hide.
Happy Holidays
