Okay, now, for once, I actually did the research and I know the real name of this bird. (Phainopepla nitens).
But, unfortunately, I don't really know what people round these parts actually call it. Although I think I would have to call it a black cardinal.
 
   I would say that, other than the black color, to me, it does bear a remarkable resemblance to the cardinal in just about every other way. This one here is a male, whereas the female is gray in color.
