* Javelina * |
For quite a period of time now, I have been
trying to get a good picture of the javelina, or "Picari tajacu".
While other people seem to complain about these animals rummaging through their
garbage on a daily basis, I never get to see them. And then, every time I go to the desert
museum, they are most often just sleeping under some of the walking bridges and
never seem to be up and walking around. So I just got this shot of one as it was lying down.
Trust me, its not dead, just a lazy pig.
With their flat snout, and their behaviors, to me, they more closely resembles a pig than anything else. But I have read and been told that they are not actually in the pig family at all. But they are suppose to be a type of peccary or some other kind of mix up on the evolutionary ladder.
Yeah, whatever. It looks like a hairy pig to me.
And smells like on too!
