So, with a little experimentation and a new shutter switch for my camera, I came up with these images. 

To do this I set the camera on the tripod, outside, in the dark. I flipped the shutter switch to leave the shutter open. Then, using a bright white and blue LED light, I walked about 25 feet in front of the camera and proceeded to point the lights at the camera and move them around.

I thought that the tricky part would be writing my name so big, and backwards too. But after reviewing my results, I was surprised to notice that it actually came out better than my normal handwriting. Go figure.
Of course I later realized that I could have just written the name the right way, and just reversed the image on the computer.
