Finally figuring out the sound of a cardinal, I located this male cardinal and began following it around, trying to get a good picture of it. I was rather disappointed when it flew into these tree branches, and I still couldn't get a good clear shot of it. Rather disappointed, I decided to take a few shots of it anyway.
But after looking over the pictures more, I became enthralled with the way the lighting and focal point had affected the contrast and created the silhouettes of the branches and the bird.

I actually didn't do anything to this image at all. This is the way it really was.
