On the road it's nice to put my old skydive altimeter on the dash and keep an eye on my altitude. In this case I was driving over a pass in Utah.

If I was skydiving here, I'd have plenty of time to pull my chute. 

There's a joke in skydiving. 
"If your main chute doesn't open, you have the rest of your life to pull your reserve."
