* Don't Quit Taking Pictures *

You know, as I post all these pictures day after day, I get replies with varying comments. Some people just comment how they enjoyed them. But some people say that my pictures inspired them to get out their old camera, blow the dust off, and start taking pictures again. Others say that they went out and bought a new camera and started taking pictures. But others actually say that they don't think any of their pictures cam compare and it makes them want to quit taking pictures altogether. Well, I'm not sure if any of these are just over-exaggerations, and they're saying it as a radical compliment. But I must say that I don't think any of my photos are any better than any others, and I myself have had moments where I saw an awesome photo by somebody else, and I just wanted to throw my camera in a dumpster and quit. But I refrain, and I always remember that any art form is an expression of the artist themselves, and while some of the pictures I take might seem impressive from one stand point, other photos might stand out on their own, from a different angle.

I recall a time while I was hiking with friends and stopped to take a picture of a pretty flower, they stopped and started taking pictures themselves. When I looked over and noticed that they were taking a picture of a rock, I just shook my head in amusement and continued with my flower. Later, after looking at their photo, I was amazed at the colors and shading, and there was definitely something very special about the picture they took, and it was quite creative and interesting.

So just as one person will have a visual sense about one thing, they might overlook something else, and another person can see so many different things from a different perspective.

We're all artists deep inside. Some of us just choose to indulge a little more than others. But in any case, nobody is ever really better at anything than anybody else. They might just have a stronger passion, that forces them to want to take the time and patience to explore their passions.

Just as one person might have seen this sunset and just took one photo and went on, I took 24.

So whatever your dream or passion is, don't quit. Even if you think that somebody is better, or that somebody might think that it's a waste of time, it doesn't matter, as long as it makes you happy. And whatever your passion is, however you do it, it's original and that makes it all yours, and nobody can take that away.
