hold pointer over image to view original image |
Is it cheating? Well, I would think so. Although I have often wanted to enhance my sunset images to bring out more color, or even to give it the color that I actually saw at the time, I hesitate, and save these enhancements for my "Graphical" images.
Yes, I did enhance this one with a bit
of contrast and brightness, and you can see the original by moving the pointer
over the image. (Although I apologize for those of you that can not see the
transition effect, for this feature doesn't always work with some browsers.)
But strangely enough, the layers, that appear to be digital artifacts, were
actually real layers in the atmosphere, and these were not altered.
My older camera quite often did not
capture the brilliance that my eyes could see. But I do have to say that my
Canon EOS is usually pretty close and would need no enhancements. But with many
sunset and sky photos, people do quite often enhance them. So many photos we see
in magazines are often manipulated to bring out more and more colors. Some or
fairly obvious to me while others just make me wonder.
This image was quite impressive to me as it was, but I think it looked so much
better with more blue in the sky and a deeper contrast.
