This lightning strike really scared me. As soon as I saw
the flash I immediately heard a sizzling sound, like bacon
frying, from directly behind me. I presume that some of the
charge had passed overhead and behind me. The sizzle then made
a quick pass over my head and to the flash in front of me
where it went off, all within a fraction of a second, and
shook me like a cannon going off.
For a split second there I thought I was done
for. So I paused for a moment, realized I was okay, regained
myself, and continued.
