Rangely Colorado 7-27-01

Howdy Everyone!
I've been camping out the last several days and haven't had much access to my email.
On Wednesday I walked to Jensen Utah and stayed there at a campground for free. That afternoon Colleen came & picked me up and took me to see Dinosaur National Monument, located 7 miles N or Jensen. Colleen works at the Utah Field House of Natural History and Dinosaur Gardens in Vernal, and I met her there.
Dinosaur National Monument is the largest Jurassic period fossil bone quarry in the world. Its a building built around a rock quarry that has many Dinosaur bones partially exposed and still partially entombed. It was really awesome. We drove farther into the park to Dry Fork Canyon and hiked up to see some petroglyphs, and then on to see the Josie Morris Cabin at the end of Cub Creek Rd. A little old lady lived in the cabin way out here, miles from anything for about 50 yrs in the early 1900s. The area around where she lived was beautifully rugged with cliffs, canyons and the Green River all around.
On Thurs I walked to Dinosaur Colorado -- yep, I crossed the Colorado line and am now in my 6th state. Richard Harrington of Vernal hauled my cart for me to Jensen and then on to Dinosaur CO. I stopped at the Visitors Center in D. and visited with Leona about possibly finding someone to haul my cart to Rangely. She said that I could just plan on it, that she would find someone. I then asked her where the library was so I could go check my email. Leona then told me to ask Wendy at the library if she would be going to R. tomorrow. So I did and Wendy said yes, that she was going to R. and would be happy to haul my cart for me. HOORAY for nice people!!
I'm now in Rangely Colorado. The Chamber of Commerce paid for 1 night for me at the motel, and I paid for sat & sun. On Monday I plan on starting out for Grand Junction, about 90 miles away.
I walked over to Radio Shack here in Rangely to buy a battery for my camera. I got to visiting with Brenda (today's her 40th birthday!) and she said she'd help me as I head for GJ. On Monday I'll leave town & walk 15 miles or so, then Brenda will come pick me up and bring me back into town. On Tues she'll dump me back out on the road at 6am and pick me up again in the afternoon & bring me back. Then on wed hopefully someone will haul me & my cart and dump me out on the road. At that point, I'll probably camp out for 2 or 3 nights, then maybe people in GJ can help me cover the final 20-30 miles into town.
So that means I'll be staying here at this motel in Rangely CO on fri-sat-sun-mon-tue nights. So give me a call! The ph# here is: 970-675-5035 Rm 114. On mon & Tues I'll be in Rm 108.
Y'all take care and have a great weekend! KB
