Fun Story 7-29-01
The other day something really neat happened. A few weeks ago when I spent some
time in Salt Lake City, a newspaper did a story about me. In that article they
said that on Monday I'd be walking from Provo to Heber City.
Jackie from Spanish Fork read that article. Her daughter Sunni has a boy with
epilepsy. So on Monday Jackie drove up & down Provo Canyon looking for me to
buy me lunch. However, that was the day that I was walking on the trail so she
didn't find me on the road.
When I got to Heber City there was an email message from Jackie saying she tried
looking for me but couldn't find me, but that her daughter lives in Heber City
and I should call her. I tried calling Sunni, but no one answered. So I emailed
Jackie back and told her what motel I was at and to have Sunni call me. At that
time I also added Jackie to my email list.
I did get a phone call from Sunni and really enjoyed meeting her & her
family. They helped me out, hauled my cart, and even gave me money. I felt quite
unworthy of all they did for me.
Now, a few weeks later, Jackie and her husband were visiting Sunni & her
family. From there they were continuing on to Colorado to visit more family.
Jackie & Sunni looked at my schedule and figured I'd be around Vernal. And
indeed, that day I was walking from Vernal to Jensen.
So there I was, walking down the road minding my own business when an SUV passed
me & pulled over. I just figured it was someone offering me a ride. So when
she stepped out and asked me if I was Karla Brown I was REALLY surprised! Come
to find out, it was Jackie!
That was so neat meeting her and visiting. Quite often when a newspaper does a
story, they include my email address and I get messages from people who read the
article. I usually add their names to my list and keep going -- as I did with
Jackie. So that was really neat to be able to meet her. But what a story! When
she was trying to find me she didn't, and when she wasn't trying she did!
Hope y'all had a great weekend! KB
