Howdy Everyone!
Today I left Lakin and walked 8 miles to Deerfield. I was planning on staying overnight here but didn't know where, so the best place to go at a time like this is to the local cafe. So I went there for lunch, and since the owner instantly knew I wasn't a local, she started talking to me. Bingo -- I hit the jackpot! In a few minutes the whole crowd knew my story and dilemma, and it wasn't long before I had a place to stay. Tonight I'll be staying in an empty furnished rental house.
Plus two people eating at the cafe were on the school board, so they drove me to the high school and tomorrow I'm scheduled to give a talk to the health class at 9:45. I'm really looking forward to that. After that I'll head for Garden City 16 miles away.
I'm looking forward to getting there so I can buy me a new pair of shoes. These ones have been shot for awhile. This is my 3rd pair, so I'll be getting my 4th.
