Clarksburg, West Virginia 3-16-02

Howdy Everyone!
On friday I walked around 12 miles to Clarksburg, WV. The weather was a balmy 73 out, and I really enjoyed the trek. While I was on the trail I marveled at all the buds on trees, and green grass sprouting out, awakening after a long nap. I got in to Clarksburg and was anxious to get to the post office where I was expecting some mail. Someone gave me directions to get there, and I had several letters waiting. There are very few things as enjoyable as going to a post office that I've never been to before and having mail there! What a pleasure! On my way to the post office, I passed 2 TV stations, so I figured I'd go back and stop in. Both stations wanted to do a story on my walk, so that evening I was on the Fox news network and also Channel 12 News in Clarksburg WV. I was planning on spending the wkend in Clarksburg, but there had been some thought that maybe I'd spend the wkend back in Coolville, Ohio -- about 80 miles away. And indeed, it did work out. When I got to Clarksburg, Jan came and picked me up and took me back to Ohio, where I'll stay friday night and saturday night and then go back to Clarksburg on Sunday. I had a lot of fun this last week while i was walking. I really made my rounds with the churches. I went from Methodists on Monday, then to the Church of the Nazarene, then the Baptist Church, and then the Catholic Church. Now I'm back to the Methodist Church. Then on Sunday when I leave Clarksburg, the next 2 towns I'll be walking to are already accounted for. That is so encouraging, to know that someone is waiting for me to arrive each day. People are so nice. Everyone says that from Clarksburg on to Winchester it's very hilly and mountainous, so I'll be moving a little slower, I'm sure. Y'all take care and have a great wkend! Happy St. Patricks Day! KB
