When I was in Montana many years ago I worked for a guy that raised bees
and collected the honey.
We would spray a chemical on a board and put it on the top of the bee
colony. It really stunk and actually smelled a lot like dog sh%$. I guess
the bees didn't like it either. They would flood out of the bottom of the
hive to get away from it and leave the top crates empty of bees so we could
take them.
Of course we also blew smoke into the hive. That makes them fill up with
honey and be too heavy to fly. They would come out of the bottom of the hive
in handfuls.
This is some of those handfuls of bees.
