* Progress!! *

"Let's say you went out to your favorite spot out in the woods, way away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday modern life. A quiet place of solitude where you go to think about things. Only to find that it just isn't there anymore."

This picture was taken a few weeks ago in downtown Fredericksburg. I would normally not send a picture with all these power lines and buildings. Maybe this is part of the Native American in me but I would have loved to capture this amazing rainbow somewhere out in the country without any of man's impurities and modern developments, obstructing this normally exquisite and profound view.
I was actually not planning on sharing this image until my short trip out to the woods yesterday afternoon. I am currently working on a short video clip for an upcoming service at church. In this clip, I envisioned myself searching out in the woods in the rain. Since it began raining yesterday I quickly grabbed my video camera and off I went.
I made my way out to the same location where, just this past week, I had  released, to the wild, a black snake that I had found. (refer to 020604.htm)
When I arrived at the same exact location, (refer to 020530.htm) I found that it wasn't even there. Instead, the whole area had just been stripped away and leveled by bulldozers. Including the very same tree where I had proudly released the snake.

Progress chases us everywhere we go. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for change, growth, invention, and modern conveniences. However, yesterday really made me re-think and change my attitude just a bit. I am now very upset, again, at man, and our own intervention with nature.

For some time now I have been ambivalent and uncertain as to what charity or organization to donate money generated from my upcoming, cross-country trip. Now it has become all too clear to me. I now have a clear, concrete goal. I am now actively pursuing information and will find a respectable organization aimed towards the protection, conservation, and preservation of our wildlife parks, sanctuaries, and reservations within this great country of ours.

Stay posted to my web site and get ready to take a virtual tour with me this summer as I travel through this great country of ours and witness all of God's wonders before they are raped, destroyed and stripped away forever.
