* Little Bighorn *

Also known as Custer's Last Stand, The Battle at Little Bighorn took place on this spot back in 1876.

The power of this image is the view. Imagine the hundreds and even thousands of warriors coming up this hill from the river below. This is looking from the place at the edge of where the majority of the soldiers fell. Across the grass and down the hill is to the Little Bighorn River. Just beyond the river was a massive Indian village. You can also view some more images from the Great American Adventure on my web site. I won't go into any more detail about the historical facts as many of you already know them or can research them for yourselves.

But I will have to say, that with some Native American Indian blood in my veins, I feel no sympathy for General Custer and his demise. I do, however, feel sorrow for all the soldiers that fulfilled their duty, and followed him, and died. But I mostly feel a deep sadness for all the Native American Indians that have lost their lives and their homes and their land throughout the centuries. Their lifestyles and culture has been completely devastated, wasted and changed forever.

Lost are so many cultures throughout history. All for the advancement and propagation of another.
I love our freedom and our world, and all of our technology and wonders. And I too benefit from all of our modern conveniences and luxuries. But I can see that it all seems to have came at a horrible price.

Maybe it didn't have to happen that way. I sure wish that it hadn't. But we can't change the past now. We can only learn from it and grow.
