* Quail *

One of the common birds out here in the Arizona desert is the Gambel's Quail. They are very easy to distinguish with the odd-looking curved black head plume. Like this male here, they are often seen with a plethora of small hatchlings. These hatchlings don't all survive as there is quite a variety of predators. One of them being the roadrunner from several weeks ago.
