This particular dragonfly is called an
"Orange Skimmer".
Ever since I have had my blue car, from
back in 1992, I have noticed that it has always seemed to attract dragonflies.
Like this one here, that has been hanging around my car for the past week, they
seem to always be lurking around it in some way. Pictured here, the dragonfly is
often perched on the antenna. I was able to get this close-up shot by stalking
the insect. Of course it flew off as soon as I came out of the door. But then
returned to the same spot. I moved in closer and it took off again. Numerous
times we danced like this until I was finally standing right beside the antenna,
where it returned again for this shot.
I finally came to the theory that, since dragonflies are drawn to water, that they must also drawn to the shiny, blue surface of the car, with it possibly resembling water in some way.
