Brian is a good friend that I have had for quite a few years now. I first met Brian while I was on my first trip to China, back in 1994. He was staying at the local  university, in the same complex as I was. Brian had gone to China to teach English for a year. 

I had a video camera with me on that trip so I videotaped a day in the life of Brian. (Hmm, that sounds interesting.) We went through the normal procedures of getting up and having breakfast, and then we took an excursion across town. After I retuned to the states I made copies of the tape and sent them to Brian's parents, since Brian was going to be there for a more extended stay. 

In 1997 I moved from Texas to Virginia and was only about a 6 hour drive from Brian's parent's house in New Jersey. I made a trip up there and got to visit with them and again, in 2002 during my trip around the country. Brian was gracious enough to allow me to stay at his parent's house again, and then at his apartment in New York City, on my way through there. 

Its certainly been my pleasure to remain in contact with Brian as he is one of those truly sincere and honorable people that we rarely get to meet in our lives. And to actually  have the honor to be considered their friend.

Besides, it surely didn't hurt at all that he could speak Chinese while I was over there.
