* My Back Yard *

Okay, so I have to admit, this is not the most impressive place in the world, and over the years I've certainly had my share of different back yards as I move around the country. But this back yard is full of interesting things, plants and animals. Just a few weeks ago, this is where I found the little horned-toad lizard. There's lots of different types of cactus here along with several other types of vegetation and trees. But also, right in the lower center of this image you can see a small hole in the ground where a small ground squirrel has taken up residence. I did manage to sneak around the storage shed and catch a quick glimpse of it and I hope to get more in time. The other day I waited and waited as I watched the hole, but nothing came out. I finally decided to walk over to the hole and look inside. Just as I came out of the side of the shed I noticed the little critter drop down out of a nearby mesquite tree and scurry down into a different hole that it had, about 20 feet from this hole. I guess I will have to be a little more clever to get shots of this sneaky rodent.
