At the Squaw Valley ski resort, at the top of the mountain, there is a heated pool and a big hot tub. What a great concept. Right in the middle of all the cold and snow, you can take a dip in a pool or sit in a hot tub and enjoy the ambiance in total comfort.
Of course there is quite the playful attitude up there. While I was standing out there, taking pictures and admiring the view, a group of guys were up on the hill throwing snowballs down at some of their friends in the hot tub.
But of course it always amazes me how far people will pay to go to the extremes. From a hot tub and heated pool in the freezing cold, on a mountain top? Or to an outdoor ice skating rink in the heat of the summer? Of course I am referring to some years ago, in downtown Dallas where, for a period of time, they had an outdoor ice skating rink in the heat of the middle of summer.
Yeah, in times like these when I look at this country, and our lifestyles, its times like these that make me think that, in some ways, we are not really doing all that bad.
