* Uncle *

This past week I wished for somebody to have a happy father's day, and was a little disappointed that I was corrected when she said, "I'm not a father."
Then, upon further conversation they revealed to me that they also no longer have a father, so the day meant nothing to them.

For a moment I felt pretty bad for them and the fact that I thought I stuck my foot in my mouth. But I soon changed my attitude. After all, I was in the same situation. So I replied with the fact that the day doesn't just have to center around us or any one individual, but for all fathers out there. And not only for fathers in general. But when you think about it, why can't it be for anybody that has been an authoritative figure or influence in our lives. I mean, it only takes one single act for somebody to be a parent. Anybody can father a child. But it takes a lot more to raise a child. I for one, would like to honor all of those that have had an impact on my life, and taught me some of the more valuable lessons in life. Because there have been so many. Now my real father did the best job he could. But he was not and could not have been there for every moment. There have certainly been a great deal of people in my life that have played big part in making me who I am today. For all of them I want to wish a Happy Father's Day.

Here in this picture is a shot of my Uncle Carl, my father's brother. Picking up from where my dad left off, he continues to be a very large part of my life and I am lucky to have had him in it.
