I had been told all throughout my early years that this flower was an Indian Blanket. But that information turned out to be untrue. However I could see how some people may have thought so, as they are often found in abundance in fields and look like a colorful blanket of flowers. 
But this is actually what is referred to as an Indian Paintbrush. Although I'm not sure about the specific names as there seems to be quite a variety of the same type of flower.
