While a lot of the palm trees look alike from a distance there are actually quite a variety of them. This one here is a Date Palm, and of course, produces dates.

Now, being a single guy, I'm always looking for a good date. I mean, since I don't cook that much at home, I'm quite often grabbing whatever snack I can find. (Uhm... what did you think I meant?) 
Anyway, when they're ripe, I can usually find a good hand full of them at the bottom of these trees. That is, of course, unless the ants have decided to take over before I get there.

But I do really like dates. Although they're not my favorite fruit, they are fairly sweet and tasty, but with a bit of a mealy texture inside. And well, if I hadn't had anything to eat in a little while, I will indulge myself.
