* Up Close with Mt. Rainier *

While driving up to see Mt. Rainier we were a bit concerned since the forecast had called for rain that weekend. Yeah, can you believe it? "Rain, in Washington?" But we were quite pleased because the skies cleared up as we got closer to the mountain, and although we didn't have the most sunny day, it was still nice, there was no rain, and we got lots of pictures of the mountain. Like this one where the highway actually runs right up along side the base of the mountain. Actually this shot was taken a little further up the road where it winds around to some good view points. But this mountain is quite fascinating when you stand there and look right at it.

This colossal giant stands at 14,410 feet and, although it last erupted approximately 150 years ago, it is still an active volcano in the Cascade Mountain range.

As with all of my postings, I am refraining from providing too much information. After all, you can always do a search on the internet to find more.
