* Mt. Lemmon Recovery *

I went up to Mt. Lemmon this past week and did a bit of exploring around some of the previous cabins that had burned from the Aspen Fire back in 2003. The Aspen Fire burned more than 80,000 acres and the majority of the Summerhaven community. Afterwards seed and mulch were dropped from aircraft and pine tree seedlings were planted around the area. Here is one with an automatic water line.

While I was exploring around some of the previous home sites that were totally obliterated, I found some interesting things. I found a piece of aluminum that had been totally melted from the heat, as well as a piece of glass. I also found a rock that had gotten so hot that it appeared to have been bleeding as some of the mineral inside had melted and seeped out from inside of the stone.
