I almost stepped on this horned toad lizard the other day. During sunset he was out enjoying the warmth of the brick walkway in front of my house. 
These are always a fascinating creature to come upon, since they are so very different than all the other lizards and critters I see on a daily basis.

After taking this shot, and numerous more, I was finally able to win over the trust and eventually touch and pick up this lizard without any attempt of escape. Although I believe it may have been more interested in the warmth of my hands.

    This one here appears to be hanging around my house quite a bit lately. I have actually came across him several more times since this photo shoot. And each time, just as laid back and trusting as before. Each time I have been able to walk up and pet the little guy. Although he doesn't come running up to me like a lonely puppy, he doesn't run away either. 

It's like he just doesn't care one way or the other.
